Data Center Power

Data Center Power

Behind-the-meter power, engineered to perform. You bring the engine. We make it all work.

EnQuest is the engineering and fabrication partner that turns a natural gas engine into a complete, code-compliant, behind-the-meter power system for data centers and AI infrastructure. Skid-mounted or containerized. Engineered, packaged, and tested in-house. Prominent industry engine and turbine configurations, built to run at a fixed site for the years it takes the grid to catch up.

When you can't wait four to seven years for an interconnection, on-site behind-the-meter power is how your facility starts generating compute revenue now.

The numbers that matter:

  • 4-7 years grid interconnection queue in key markets.

  • 120-210 weeks transformer lead times.

  • 68 GW of additional AI data center power needed by 2027.

  • 38-45% lower fuel cost than diesel.

The problem isn't capital. It's power.

The capital is ready. The GPU contracts are signed. The demand for compute has never been higher. The one thing missing on a growing number of projects is power, and the grid can't deliver it on your timeline.

In key markets, interconnection queues run 4-7 years. In Northern Virginia, utilities have at points paused new connections entirely. Texas, Ohio, and Arizona face 3-5 year queues. Then there's the bottleneck behind the bottleneck: transformer lead times have reached 120-210 weeks. You can win your interconnection slot and still be 2+ years from energizing.

Every day the facility sits dark is a day of idle GPU investment at NVIDIA contract prices, and a day your competitor's models are training while yours are not. On-site natural gas generation is how operators bridge that gap and start producing compute revenue before the grid arrives.

Why stationary, behind-the-meter power

For a data center awaiting permanent grid connection, the right answer is rarely a temporary fix. It's a stationary, behind-the-meter power plant sized to carry the facility's load for the duration, engineered to the site's permit, and built to run continuously.

Stationary natural gas generation has a decisive advantage where it matters most: emissions compliance. Stationary gas engines are engineered and configured to meet fixed-site air-permit limits, with lean-burn combustion and integrated aftertreatment (SCR for NOx, oxidation catalyst for CO and VOC) designed to clear the NOx thresholds those permits impose. Temporary and mobile units follow a different certification path and are far harder to permit to the same stationary limits, which is precisely why operators lose contracts at site certification. Leaning stationary takes that risk off the table.

We are the engineering, not just the iron

This is what sets EnQuest apart from a distributor or a broker. You, or your OEM (original equipment manufacturer) partner, bring the engine. We bring everything required to turn that engine into a working, permitted, deployable power system:

Structural engineering and fabrication. The skid, the enclosure, the module. Engineered for the load, the cooling, the acoustic requirements, and the site, then fabricated in-house. This is not outsourced. EnQuest engineers and builds the structural package around the engine.

Systems integration. Gas train, fuel filtration, pressure regulation, electrical integration, switchgear interface, and controls, all engineered to work as one system rather than assembled as parts.

Emissions packaging. SCR and aftertreatment integrated into the package and engineered to the site's permit, so NOx compliance is solved before the unit ships, not discovered at certification.

Testing and documentation. Every unit tested and documented under an ISO 9001:2015 quality system before it leaves the floor.

The result is a complete behind-the-meter power system, skid-mounted or containerized, that arrives ready to commission. You handled the engine relationship. We handled everything that makes it run.

A packaging partner, not a competitor

For prominent industry distributors selling engines into the data center market, EnQuest is the contract manufacturer that converts an engine sale into a complete, commissioned power solution, without competing for the customer relationship. Your sales team sells the engine. We package, integrate, fabricate, and test. The customer gets a deployable system. You close more engine sales because you can offer the whole thing.

Real capacity, real timelines

While competitors quote 70-90+ week lead times, EnQuest delivers from real production capacity: a 200-person build team in a 157,500 sq ft ISO 9001:2015-certified Houston facility, with the structural fabrication capability to build the skid and enclosure in the same building as the integration and test. For an EPC manager staring at a transformer queue measured in years, that delivered, in-house capacity is the difference between hitting handover and triggering liquidated damages.

Need power before the permanent connection?

The grid will arrive eventually. The question is what your facility is doing in the years before it does. EnQuest exists to make sure the answer is "generating revenue."

Where a project needs rapid bridge power during early commissioning, EnQuest also packages mobile natural gas units that deploy quickly and reposition as the build progresses. But for sustained behind-the-meter power, stationary is the engineered answer, and it's the work we do best.
